Exemptions

State of Texas Exemption Program

Exemptions are a type of financial assistance allowing some Texas residents to attend a public college or university in Texas without paying tuition or, in some cases, tuition and fees.

Submitting in a Timely Fashion

Please remember there are hundreds of students using exemptions at the College.  Please submit your applications/letters as early as possible to prevent delays.  If you submit your application, for example, the week before payment deadline or later, we cannot guarantee it will be posted to your account in time to hold your classes.

In these cases, you will need to pay for your classes out-of-pocket, and once your application is processed, and, if you are still eligible for the exemption, your aid will be posted to your account. In these cases, if you paid in advance, this process will generate a refund to you.
